On August 6th 2022 I was out on one of my daily adventures mountain biking. Little did I know my life was going to change forever that day. I went over the handlebars on my bike and broke my neck at the C5 and C6 vertebres, leaving me paralyzed below the chest. But what I also didn’t realize that day was how grateful I was about to become. Many might initially think how heartbreaking, how tragic and not that those thoughts and feelings didn’t occur. But I also felt an immense amount of gratitude, appreciation, and courage. I was instantly surrounded by a community who rallied and has been there every step of the way and given me strength to keep going. I have met so many new people who have given me so much insight and reminders to appreciate the little things. It was never a club I intended to be a part of but, one I am forever grateful for. Almost a year later, I continue to get stronger every day and cannot wait to ride in this years KBF ride. Please consider donating so those like me can get the equipment needed to live an active lifestyle and get back to the things we love doing!
Support My Kelly Brush Ride
Did you know there are over 300,000 people in the US living with a spinal cord injury? Even those lucky enough to receive world class care will be more likely to experience depression, unemployment, obesity, diabetes and other health issues. That’s why I’m riding to raise money for the Kelly Brush Foundation!
The KBF strives to inspire and empower people with spinal cord injuries to live active and engaged lives! The foundation helps people discover adaptive sports and recreation, hosts camps to immerse people in sports and community, and most importantly, provides hundreds of grants per year to people that just want to return to the activities they love.
Please help me reach my goal! The KBF is aiming to raise $1.2 million this year, which will allow almost 300 people to receive their dream adaptive sports equipment, so they can get out and enjoy being active again. Check out some of the amazing stories the KBF has made possible thanks to the Kelly Brush Ride.
Thank you!
