August 20 Update

  • Journal

Not gonna lie, tough week.  Many adjustments and the reality of it all.  Allie is ok, no major changes but I see little things like her reaching out to hug her friend, feeling her Dad touch her toe.  She only sees that she is in a bed unable to move anything except her arms and wanting to feel her fingers and go back to her life because she said she was just so very happy before all of this.

Allie has started therapy.  Todays positive was with the help of her wrist brace she was able to feed herself most of her breakfast.  She also had two young nurses again who get it and care so at least day shift is much more pleasant.  She was on a simulated walker yesterday and that went well also.  You all know Allie she would stay on it until she dropped if that would help.

We leave for a few days Sunday around noon after seeing her for an hour or so.  It will be so hard but we all know she has to do the work and I will be back Thursday evening for a cuddle with her.  I am so grateful for the help we have received so that  I will be able to stay for the weekend.  She is so lucky to have the support of all of you and recognizes this!  Brice and her friends will make sure every day someone drops in to make her evening go a little better.  When we get her to smile and laugh our spirits lift and I can’t wait until she can use her darn fingers more either!!

We should know more middle to end of the week when her team meets to discuss their findings and I believe give us a plan.  I will update when I hear more  information.  For now know she is settling in, beginning this new journey and loves and appreciates what everyone of you is doing to help especially the prayers.  As I just reminded her, its going to be a long road and I know she can do it….she just needs a little help along the way and some positive signs to help keep her spirits up!   Lisa
