September 2 Update

  • Journal

There is so much to absorb and think about.  Really all we want is to have our baby home and healthy and to be able to help her recover to her fullest to have the beautiful life she is so deserving of.  I have to again THANK You all for your continued love and support of us while we get her there!!

While Allie is busy  during the week with PT and OT the weekends are very long and she has no services.  It is discouraging because as you know- Allie wants to be busy she thrives on it and she wants to see improvements.  Spaulding has a lot of amazing resources- Friday she was hooked up into a walking robot thing that had her upright and walking, however I believe like everywhere post Covid- there is not enough help.  Told her when we get her home we will find as many resources as we can.

Yesterday was a really tough day, a lot of tears and frustrations, but in typical Allie fashion she was smiling at Dana’s little goofball stuff this morning.  A new day lets move on.

We were told she has more wrist extension in her left wrist this week.  Not a lot of other news.  I feel like she is lifting her left arm more and attempting to push buttons on her phone, she says no,  it is all going to take time. She will be trying a manual chair this week, for backup I think to start but that is still her big goal!  This is definitely the fight of her life and unlike most fights the results are very slow.  Her stubborn Italian heritage needs to stay kicked in.  I told her to be MAD and put that energy into her rehab.

Our amazing community has dug the hole for the foundation of the new room and the foundation should be complete by the end of the week I believe.  Still working on fine details for the bathroom etc. Then there are the others who bring a meal, help with paperwork etc. etc.  Not sure how we could do this without all of you .

Newest highlight for her is that Skida will be making Allie Strong hats, thanks to yet another neighbors help (she probably has 20 already lol-she LOVES her Skida hats)  She will be picking out her fabric this week, and we will figure out how to take orders if you are interested.

In closing, I continue to work and then come down and spend the weekends here in Boston.  Dana is also here this weekend but next will be volunteering at the Kelly Brush ride where Allie B has a team riding.  Brice and friends are here during the week and she has a fair amount of visitors on the weekend!  Dillon, keeps the construction rolling.  We all have a role and are like I used to say “team Bianchi”.  Blessed to have each other and all of you…..keep praying.  Every inch is a mile here.
