October 1 Update

  • Journal

At this point~8 days left .  Eight days of hard work for Allie, chair fittings, more stim PT a small procedure at Mass Gen.  and more training to gain more strength to do day to day things.

Eight days for us to put finishing touches on her room, get bathroom sheet rocked and close for her to use.  Equipment is coming, a Van is in the works, a lot of little X’s to cross!

Dana and I were trained this weekend.  It will definitely take us a bit to get smooth with some of these things.  We feel good about our Hoyer skills and I know the morning routine.  It is overwhelming, not gonna lie.  I know we can do it but we Thank God we have a city, (Allies city) to help us while we navigate this.

Allie said today she thought she’d be farther along when she left here.  She is farther than she realizes and we are so grateful for the little things she can’t see.  This week we see more use of her right arm, and things like her learning to use her bed rails to help herself stay on her side.  She also showed us her manual chair skills.  But damn those winged scapulas again- who gave her those!

Allie is ready to be home.  The realization that it still won’t be like it was is hard.  However, being surrounded by love 24/7, some of Mom’s cooking, Dad’s sandwiches and a change will be good.  We have reminded her again and again – this was just her first step.  We will find a way to give her more possibilities.  A year is a long time for things to happen!  Thank you all for helping keep “Allie Strong” and us as well❤️
