It’s a New Year!  Door was opened here at Midnight to usher out 2022 and welcome 2023 with a hope for happier things to come.  Looking back , as bad as it was we are so lucky – we have our child.  Looking back at 2 photos of her the other day I thought these 2 pictures represent our daughter so perfectly.  In one you see her strength and determination and in the other you see her pure joy and spirit.  I will enclose these today to remind us all that these qualities that make her so special are still there and what will get her through this rough patch!!  Allies Strength is there, maybe some of those muscles aren’t working but that can’t take it away or her spirit and the joy she brings us.

Meanwhile, we are plugging away.  Allie is doing Pt and Ot at Fanny Allen 2 days a week.  Insurance won’t last long even at this rate so we will be trying to figure out how to supplement this going forward.  The holidays were tough, she struggled with not being able to help people and do all that she is used to doing.  She did enjoy time with family and friends and she and I tried to catch up with ourselves last week (we slept in lol).

Craig did accept her for an week long evaluation but it isn’t until August 6th.  They are booked until then.  That was a blow as well, but we have been hearing that in many ways she can get more out of it then as she will be stronger!

Shepard is still in the que also.  She needs to reach out this week to them as well and see exactly what the difference is between the two.  Shepard’s program is a little shorter but both require coming out for evaluation and then returning for out patient treatment.

Allie is continuing to learn more about how to live this new life in this new world.  Handicap accessible doesn’t mean she can even get in the door.  She is learning to understand her body and what some of these feelings she has really are.  The future is scary but she is trying to accomplish one thing at a time.  Gaining strength, knowledge and finding joy where we can.

Happy New Year to you and and again – our heartfelt thanks again for everything as we head around yet another corner on the road to recovery. I promise to keep you updated….
