I know, I haven’t posted in a while….. I think I haven’t because I haven’t had some great news to share.  I have no bad news, we are just in a holding pattern.  We have positives though!  We have also had some just down days.

The article about Allie in 7 Days– “Still Allie” was perfect.  While we wish we could have thanked everyone for everything I hope it showed you all how much every little bit has helped.  I also hope it showed how Allie is staying as Allie Strong as she can!  We so appreciated that she had the opportunity to tell part of her story.

Allie also was so overwhelmed by her Co workers at Barre City Elementary School!  She went in to deliver her Allie Strong hats and was greeted with so much love and respect.  She was truly honored and blessed. It was a special day seeing the kids and all her Co workers, I know I will be bringing her back again soon.

Allie went again to day to read to a class here in Jericho.  Getting into the classroom for an hour or so here and there is so wonderful as she gets to be with children and if you know Allie at all you know how much she loves children…

Meanwhile Allie is getting in some great OT and PT time at Fanny Allen.  The people there are so sweet and helpful.  She is continuing to work on her core and start to gain more manual wheel chair skills.  She is also now in charge of brushing her teeth, the hygienist quit lol.

Craig in Colorado, has received her records, asked for our insurance info and we are waiting to see if it will work out.  So while we prepare for the holidays, the best gift could be down the road….  if not- we will find something else.

I have had several people tell me in the last few days something that I have also tried to tell Allie when she is feeling down. It bothers her that she can’t help other people anymore.  Last night amid tears I tried to explain what many of you have told me, and how we feel about her presence.  I tried to explain how when she just enters into a room or down a hallway etc, her joyful spirit is infectious and lifts your spirits.  It did it for us all while we were waiting at UVM for my brother to regain consciousness, people have told me that in a classroom or even a hallway at school, Allie enters and her spirit and positivity lighten the mood.  That is one of her many gifts and how she helps all of us to this day and why we are so lucky to have her.  Thank you all for that reminder as it’s how I feel so many days when she smiles at me or jokes about some little thing.

So for now, we look forward to the holidays, winters solstice and being with family and friends!  Hope you all are staying warm in your skida hats (we have a few left if anyone needs more).  I will post again soon!  Thanks for everything you all do to help keep the wheels on our bus.
