We are home and my word for the past week and Allie is “Resilient”.  She continues to have her moments , which she is certainly allowed to have and then spring back and be tough and continue to try and set a course for her recovery.

We all are so HAPPY to be home. I had tears in my eyes entering the neighborhood and seeing her welcome home sign.   The house is getting so close to completion.  Her new room is working out great and we feel so grateful for all you have all helped us accomplish.  I can’t imagine what our world would be like without all the help and support we have received.  Transition has, like all of this journey had its ups and downs.  Hard to come back to home and not be able to help out as she is used to doing- little does she realize how much help it is to all of us just to have her here and see her smile and have her laugh and sense of humor raise us all up.

We have gotten a pretty good morning routine down.  Our Hoyer skills are improving and she is so patient with us.  Bed time is a little better and I have to believe when her sleep number bed comes it will become even more so.  The first couple of nights with our “hospital-jail break bed” were interesting but again we were saved with a different mattress that has helped a lot.

There were a lot of apts to set up, schedules to figure out etc etc.  As much as she appreciates in home OT and PT she really just needs to get to the Fanny Allen for this as soon as she can as she is feeling like she is in a holding pattern- but things are full so we are set up for when we can in November and praying someone cancels and we can get slots sooner!

After a haircut we broke her out in the new van and Brianna and I took her shopping to Home Goods!  We found a chair for her room and managed to carry it out and fit it in the van- Girl power!  It felt good to do something normal- even though the path to normal was different.

Allie said again this morning.  If I could just get my hands back…..that’s what we pray for. 2 1/2 months in but a long ways to go……I will keep you all updated as we settle in and we find our groove and figure out how it is all going to work !!    Meanwhile thank you for your love and support…..Lisa
