A work in progress…..there are so many new aspects to our lives right now, we are all working on our new normal and how to manage this journey forward.  For Allie its not only keeping her body and mind healthy and her growth forward continuous but also managing appointments, seeing friends and family and keeping a balance.  I feel like we have so many more things that we need to add to our routine for her best care, but have to work on one at a time as it all  takes time and while many aspects are getting easier /quicker, the addition of more seems daunting!  This week we are so very thankful to the women who are dedicated to helping us get her where she needs to be as well a providing her care and friendship/love while we try and get into a work routine!

For Dana, the hardest part is judging when he is needed here and when he can totally immerse in work.  House projects are getting so close to completion so  hopefully that pull on him will soon be less and he can get back to the day to day things and fill in where we need while  regaining a focus at work. He also needs to keep practicing his massage skills!!

Myself, I am trying to stay on top of the paperwork lol.  Schedules, appointments ,educating myself about Medicaid and making sure Allie gets out are some of my top priorities.  I spend my days at work telling my patients about Allie- kind of bragging actually- I am just so proud of her, our family and what all of you have helped do.  I brag about you all too!!

We have so much left to figure out right now but, our city is still behind us helping us every step of the way.  While we wait to get into Fanny Allen for PT we are starting to look to see if there are other Out Patient programs that she could benefit from and is eligible for.  We aren’t done fighting! There is still so much hope and time for more improvement.

Day to day Allie does get stronger in different ways.  She feeds herself more often without prodding- she has gotten pretty good at getting potato chips in her mouth!  She often does her tooth brushing and is starting to use her hair brush.  We just see her automatically reaching and doing things she didn’t try to do before.  Kelly Brush gave her some other big inspirations that I feel certain she will follow through on.  And as always she keeps her father and I in line.

BIG NEWS- YES her neck and chest brace can come off!  We will have to wean her.  Her head feels pretty heavy and she worries about being able to keep herself upright- she has some new muscles to conquer and strengthen.  Dr. Jewell felt that her neck isn’t 100% but pretty darn close and is happy with the results and with her growth.  He, like all of us feels her biggest attribute is her positive attitude and that it will get her far.  So I am including a new pic so you all can see her beautiful neck along with her beautiful smile and spirit.

Again thanks to all of you for your prayers, hard work, support and time.  We would most definitely be lost without you as you all play such an important part in her positive progress and spirit (and ours as well).  Watch out – she is starting to show up places and you may get to see her in person!
