All I can say is our broken hearts are so full… Thank you all for your continued support of Allie and our family. We continue to be awed by your generosity and efforts to help us get her home and keep her progress moving forward. What a city she has and it is growing!
While Dana was here keeping home projects moving , Allie and I were fortunate to have Lee Roy (Travis Roy’s dad) stop by and see us. He has not only offered us generous support from his foundation which is ending but his time is also so valuable to us. He has so much knowledge and information that he has helped us all in so many ways. We hope to meet with he and his wife Brenda again in the near future.
After last weekend, Allie had a pretty good week overall. She was thrilled to get to walk for 36 minutes in her robot gear! Much longer than the last time!!! She said it felt so good to move her body- she so misses movement -something that in the future we will need to find a way to help her with. She also said that she could actually feel the bottoms of her feet when she walked. Now if those damn muscles would just kick in, the nerves seem to be slowly getting there. She also got to try out a handcycle bike. She said her arms were tired after but that is a good thing. I see her getting stronger every week. Getting those braces off in a few more weeks will be great but I know there will be small hurdles with that to strengthen muscles she hasn’t been able to use.
It is hard at times for her to see others doing what she used to do and not being able to do for others. She said its like a wave and it rushes in at times and then goes away for a while. It’s a mourning of sorts. Her smile and sense of humor do prevail after a bit.
We are still working towards finalizing equipment etc as her return date is coming right up. The new room will be painted this week and then we can get her floor in. Bathroom demolition is in full swing, can’t wait to be done with sheetrock dust lol. Dana vacuumed without being asked- yup even he notices!! Really though what we want most is to get her home to begin her next phase of recovery. It wont be any easier but there will be so many pluses.
I wasn’t with her all weekend this week, but her friends from high school and college took over and kept her smiling. Your notes, visits, cards and the stories I tell her of all your generosity are taken in and absorbed -she will find a way to give back I have no doubt. If she had one wish it would be for her fingers right now , keep your prayers coming please….and Thank you!!
